The Bawdy Adventures of Tom Jones (1976). Assmonster: The Making of a Horror Movie (2006). Black Emmanuelle, White Emmanuelle (1976). Beautiful Teacher in Torture Hell (1985). it feels so real in this way it's akin to Cannibal Holocaust. Lastly, Zarchi films this unflinchingly as if it was a documentary rarely bringing in a soundtrack. I could write a whole dissertation on this, but I'll stop there. The backwoods setting (used in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) as well) really capitalizes on the Deliverance, Hills Have Eyes vibe - that fear of the unwashed country folks who'll enact unspeakable horrors upon any city folks who stray too far off the road. The stuff she goes through is ridiculous, and she conveys a real believability - from happy normalcy, to existential anguish, to cold resolve. Camille Keaton is just a goddamn amazing actress. I also like how it is almost two movies the rape and the revenge elements are distinct. Meir Zarchi really lets the tension build, almost a slow burn - and then, bam, it is just unrelenting horror. It is a highly effective well-put-together movie. What guy at the local video rental store didn't at least pause when walking past this tape? I do think there is something to the fact that this was in tons of video rental stores - and featured that iconic lurid VHS cover of Demi Moore's butt, setup by Charles Band. Even happier to hear Keaton married the writer/director. 
I am happy to learn that Camille Keaton has stood by it, never relenting to the puritanical mob. I mean there were literal campaigns and protests against this film. Shitty critics like Siskel & Ebert were so outspoken against it, that it had the opposite impact, boosting its popularity. To reiterate some points I mentioned at the start - I would say this is a prime example of the Barbara Streisand effect.
